On May 19, 2021, the HORIZON call “Medical Technology and Devices: from Lab to Patient” is launched, which is part of the EIC Transition Challenges 2021 program (HORIZON-EIC-2021-TRANSITION-CHALLENGES-01)
Field of application:
EU-funded early research on new medical technologies and devices, discovering unique opportunities for the benefit of patients and the support of clinicians.
The proposal should aim to:
- Carrying out the research and development necessary to move from the idea of ​​a technology to a mature version to initiate clinical evaluation.
- Development of an exploitation strategy, outlining qualitatively and quantitatively the proposed path to the patient and describing a proposal in which to invest.
The proposals presented can target any technology that meets important health needs in direct clinical treatment and patient care.
Your proposal must be based on the results (proven proof of principle) obtained in an eligible project. As transitional funding is a new scheme, for 2021 it is limited to applications based on the results generated by the following eligible projects:
- EIC Pathfinder projects (including projects funded under the EIC Pathfinder pilot program, Horizon 2020 FET-Open, FET-Proactive) and FET Flagships calls (including ERANET calls under the FET work program)
- European Research Council (ERC) Proof of Concept Projects
