We welcome the new member ROHEALTH: The Romanian Society of Medical Informatics - SRIM!
SRIM is a scientific, professional and non-governmental organization. SRIM aims to promote active research and development of medical informatics communities in the academic, commercial and medical fields both in the country and abroad.
Romania has been represented as an IMIA correspondent since 1986 and became a full IMIA member in 1994. It currently has representatives in several IMIA and EFMI working groups. Also in 1994 SRIM became a member of EFMI.
Currently, SRIM has over 120 members: doctors, IT experts, engineers, mathematicians and other professionals working in the field of medical informatics. The organization continues the activity of a group of specialists who started working in this field since 1977.
SRIM's activities involve stimulating and coordinating the activities of its members in order to promote medical informatics in the country and support international cooperation in this field by:
- organization of scientific and professional conferences, symposia, courses and exhibitions and collaboration in similar activities with related organizations;
- publishing scientific, professional and educational documents and articles in the field of medical informatics;
- dissemination of information relating to conferences, publications and links to medical informatics websites;
- promoting scientific and professional contacts at international level with similar organizations;
- active involvement in supporting specialists to participate in international events;
- collaboration with the Romanian Academy and the Academy of Medical Sciences in the field of research in medical informatics;
- collaboration with medical universities for the promotion and development of education and training in medical informatics.
SRIM members work in several scientific and professional committees and in several expert groups of the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education. The President of SRIM was recently elected President of EFMI. SRIM is an institutional member of "Prorec", a company that promotes the implementation of the patient's electronic file in Romania.
