Under the Digital Europe work programme 2021-2022, the European Commission has published a call for proposals to deploy a federated European infrastructure for cancer images data. To support the networking and community building in the HEALTH DATA SPACE – FEDERATED EUROPEAN INFRASTRUCTURE FOR CANCER IMAGES DATA project, the European Commission will organize an online information and networking session on 8 March 2022.
The goal of the event is to raise awareness of the open call and to give the relevant stakeholders an opportunity to identify potential collaborators. The participants will be able to present themselves and their areas of expertise.
Participation is free of charge but registration is mandatory on the event website by 4 March 2022.
The Commission will select the final list of speakers. The recording and materials from the event will be available online after the event to allow further collaboration among the interested stakeholders.

The European Commission wants to support the one large-scale project HEALTH DATA SPACE – FEDERATED EUROPEAN INFRASTRUCTURE FOR CANCER IMAGES DATA that will establish and deploy a pan-European digital infrastructure facilitating access to cancer images and related patient data in full compliance with the applicable data protection requirements. The infrastructure shall be used by clinicians, researchers, and innovators with the ultimate aim of more precise and faster clinical decision-making, diagnostics, treatments, and predictive medicine in cancer care.
The Commission plans to make 18 million euros available to support the deployment of the cancer images infrastructure which should be matched by the same amount of funding from the participating organisations. The infrastructure is a central element of the European Cancer Imaging Initiative under Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan.
