Technologies, Materials and Medical Devices

Description: Explores innovation in medical materials and equipment, supporting the adoption of technologies that enhance the safety and efficiency of healthcare services. The group aims to strengthen an innovation ecosystem that accelerates technology transfer from research to market and clinical practice. Through collaboration between companies, research institutes, universities, and healthcare service providers, the group supports the development, testing, validation, and adoption of advanced medical technologies and devices, in line with European regulatory, safety, and interoperability requirements.

CBRNE, Disaster Medicine and Crisis Resilience

Description: Preparedness and response to chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear events and natural disasters; cybersecurity; strengthening the resilience of healthcare systems. The group contributes to enhancing the prevention, preparedness, and response capacity of the healthcare system in the face of complex and multidimensional crises. The focus is placed on integrating disaster medicine, risk management, and institutional resilience, including through simulation exercises, exchange of best practices, and alignment with international and European frameworks on health security and population protection.

Education and Social Responsibility

Description: Promotes health education, social responsibility, and community involvement in decisions related to population health and the development of the healthcare ecosystem. The group supports the development of a health culture based on education, prevention, and social responsibility, addressing both professionals and the general public. Through educational initiatives, training programmes, and awareness campaigns, the group contributes to reducing health inequalities and increasing the level of information and community engagement in promoting health and well-being. This thematic group focuses on health-related education, which is why most of its members are universities/research institutes and SMEs with relevant expertise in medical education.

Digital Health

Description: Integration of digital technologies in healthcare: telemedicine, applications, AI, monitoring, and data analytics. The group facilitates the transition toward patient-centred and data-driven digital healthcare systems by promoting interoperable, secure, and ethical technological solutions. Particular attention is given to the use of artificial intelligence, telemedicine, and medical data analytics systems, in accordance with European regulations on data protection, cybersecurity, and the responsible use of digital technologies in healthcare.

Bioeconomy – One Health

Description: The group promotes an integrated One Health approach, further expanded through the Planetary Health concept, which highlights the interdependence between human health, animal health, and ecosystem health. The focus is on prevention, risk anticipation, and the holistic management of global challenges, ranging from emerging diseases and antimicrobial resistance to climate change. The group also plays an active role in crisis preparedness and strategic communication, ensuring the effective dissemination of information to decision-makers, scientific communities, and the general public for the coherent implementation of One Health principles.

Neurosciences and Longevity Medicine – Brain Health Science and Longevity Medicine

Description: Mental, cognitive, and neurological health, as well as research on longevity and quality of life. The group promotes an integrated approach to brain health throughout the entire lifespan, including mental, cognitive, and neurological health, as well as interventions aimed at extending active and healthy living. The group’s activities support prevention, translational research, and the implementation of innovative solutions that contribute to improving quality of life and reducing the burden of neurodegenerative and ageing-related diseases.

Cancer – Integrated Care & Societal Engagement

Description: The group aims to improve prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and the quality of life of oncology patients by strengthening collaboration among healthcare professionals, researchers, industry representatives, public authorities, and patient associations. Particular emphasis is placed on the patient’s voice as an essential element in defining research priorities, access to innovative treatments, and the development of healthcare services centred on the real needs of beneficiaries.

Public Policy, Regulation & Institutional Dialogue

Description: The group’s activity focuses on aligning national policies with European initiatives and regulations, supporting their transposition, impact assessment, and adaptation to the local context. The group aims to develop, substantiate, and support public policies in the fields of healthcare, research, innovation, and bioeconomy through a structured dialogue between the research environment, industry, civil society, and public authorities.

PPP Medicine (Predictive, Preventive and Personalised Medicine)

Description: The group brings together experts from research, medicine, industry, public policy, and technology with the aim of promoting the transition toward a proactive and person-centred healthcare model. The group facilitates interdisciplinary dialogue, the exchange of best practices, and the development of joint initiatives in the field of data-driven and real-world evidence-based medicine. Its activity focuses on identifying innovative solutions for prevention, early diagnosis, and personalised treatments, as well as formulating strategic recommendations for the implementation of PPP medicine within healthcare systems. The working group acts as a co-creation platform between research, medical practice, and public decision-making.
